Working with the National Trust and Minecraft specialists Blockbuilders, we used GPS drone data to construct a virtual model of the ruin, as it stands today.

Next, we brought in Minecraft creator Grian and historian Alice Loxton to rebuild the castle exactly as it was at the height of its glory, in the 17th century. We captured this process in a YouTube video that now has more than 1.1million views.

Then we opened up our base ruin on a public server, challenging Minecrafters to get creative and reimagine the castle in their own style. They built 1905 castles, with an average playtime of 8 hours, 48 minutes, and a total playtime of 1 month, 1 day, 16 hours and 26 minutes.

After bringing Corfe Castle to Minecraft, we brought Minecraft to the castle, setting up Xbox consoles where visitors could get to work reconstructing the castle from the base of the ruin itself.
